Overview: Set in Odisha 1817, in the backdrop of Paika Rebellion, Bakshi Jagabandhu, a rebel fights for the rights of his citizens against the British Era. Apart from the rebellion, the story focuses on his personal life. He is married to Radhamani. However, due to the latter being unable to conceive, she forcefully marries Bakshi off with Warrior-Princess Kalyani, to take the generation forward.

Written and directed by David Hare, it featured performances by Kate Nelligan and Bill Paterson. Photography was by Ken Morgan and John Kenway while the producer was David Rose for BBC Birmingham.
