Episode Details
Title: MeatEater
Season: 0
Episode: 8
Runtime: 22m
Overview: Located on Alaska's North Slope, the 22.8 million acres of the National Petroleum Reserve comprise the largest single block of federally managed land in the United States. - The habitat provided by the reserve supports abundant migratory bird populations and the largest caribou herd in Alaska as well as numerous other game and non-game species. - The Bureau of Land Management is currently developing an Integrated Activity Plan and associated Environmental Impact Statement to plan for the future management of the reserve. - The TRCP supports Alternative B-2, which proposes a no lease designation that would account for protection of habitat on a mere 13 percent of the 22.8 million-acre NPR-A while still allowing for future oil and gas development in the majority of the reserve.
