Meanwhile, Hakone Academy has sent their second-year Ashikiba Takuto. As Ashikiba overwhelms the other riders with his "Metronome Dancing" that makes use of his towering 202 centimeters, Sohoku's new captain Teshima takes him on with his soulful riding!
Feeling the passionate waves of Teshima's ride of the soul during the Minegayama Hill Climb, Sakamichi rides all out to catch up to Ashikiba! Who will win the race...?! After the race, Ashikiba meets with third-year Fukutomi. He has his own past... Later, Tadokoro starts his last race, the Bay Coast Criterium. A three-way race between keepers of the Sohoku sprinter's spirit, Tadokoro, Naruko, and Aoyagi begins!
Fearing the team will get worse now that the third-years are gone, Imaizumi makes a shocking suggestion to Naruko in order to help the team win. After hearing his suggestion, Naruko heads back to his hometown of Osaka.
Searching for his answer to how to make Sohoku stronger, Naruko arrives in Osaka, where he's challenged to a race by Kyoto Fushimi's ace Midousuji for "something important." Their sprint for honor is about to begin!
