Stromberg hat es geschafft: Sein neuer Vorgesetzter hält ihn durch seine Fernsehpräsenz für einen Werbeträger der CAPITOL und holt ihn zurück in die Schadensregulierung. Hier widmet sich Stromberg sofort seinem neuesten Projekt: den Frauen. Jennifer, eine neue Mitarbeiterin, hat es ihm angetan, allerdings greift Stromberg zu höchst zweifelhaften Methoden um sie für sich zu gewinnen. Tanja und Ulf suchen derweil eine gemeinsame Wohnung und Ernie leidet schwer am plötzlichen Tod seiner Mutter.
Für Stromberg läuft es bestens. Für altgediente CAPITOL-Mitarbeiter soll er eine Abschiedsfeier organisieren, und er hat offenbar endlich eine neue Freundin. Allerdings knirscht es auch da gehörig im Getriebe. Tanja muss unterdessen feststellen, dass sich Ulf sehr für die neue Kollegin interessiert. Kurzerhand ergreift sie ungewöhnliche Gegenmaßnahmen...
Unmut in der Schadensregulierung: Stromberg hat den Mitarbeitern Zusatzarbeit aufgebrummt. Zum Ausgleich will er die Abteilung zum Karnevalfeiern verdonnern. Derweil machen sich die Kollegen langsam wirklich Sorgen um den seelischen Zustand von Ernie. Tanja beschließt, dass Ulf ihm ein Gespräch unter Männern anbieten soll.
Mehr oder weniger unfreiwillig bewahrt Stromberg eine schwangere Kollegin vor dem Rauswurf und wird daraufhin von seiner Abteilung als Held gefeiert. Auch für Ernie geht es aufwärts, denn er stellt fest, dass seine Mutter ihm eine nicht unbeträchtliche Summe vererbt hat. Während ihn sein neuer Reichtum bei den Kollegen keineswegs beliebter macht, versucht Stromberg seine neue Popularität gleich auszunutzen und geht prompt zu weit …
Stromberg muss dringend betriebsintern an seinem Image arbeiten, da kommt ihm eine Aktion gegen Diskriminierung von Minderheiten bei der CAPITOL gerade recht. Insbesondere beim Redakteur von CAPITOL-Intern, Jochen Schüller, kommt er damit gut an. Die beiden sind sich auch privat überaus sympathisch. Der Beginn einer wunderbaren Freundschaft ist gemacht, die Stromberg aber schon bald einer Zerreißprobe unterzieht ...
Herr Becker hat private Schwierigkeiten und überträgt Stromberg für eine Weile die Leitung der Abteilung. Ausgerechnet jetzt sagt sich Besuch aus der Zentrale an: Man will überprüfen, wie effizient die Filialen arbeiten. Zu blöd, dass Stromberg seinen Mitarbeitern gerade ein paar Freiheiten eingeräumt hat. So darf Ernie einen Hund mit ins Büro bringen und sieht überhaupt nicht ein, dass Stromberg die Erlaubnis nun postwendend wieder zurücknehmen will ...
